Now I dream bigger than ever.
From the story of Rasuma Begum, Camp 20 Extension, Bangladesh

Rasuma Begum (pseudonym), an 11-year-old girl from Camp 20 Extension, lives with her parents, Mohad Hossain and Amatur Rahim. Enrolled in the MCAC-10 (Courage) programme under JRS-Caritas Bangladesh, Rasuma has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Before joining the programme, she struggled with personal hygiene and often misbehaved with her classmates. “I didn’t understand the importance of cleanliness and used to act rudely,” she admitted. However, the consistent guidance from teachers and Essentials of Life (EOL) caregivers helped her change. “They always reminded me to take care of myself and treat others kindly,” she shared.

With encouragement from her peers and mentors, Rasuma adopted healthier habits. She now follows a daily routine—brushing her teeth, bathing, drinking clean water, trimming her nails, and greeting elders respectfully. “I no longer misbehave. I even encourage my friends to follow good habits,” she said proudly.

Rasuma actively engages in MCAC activities, especially enjoying rhymes, songs, and finger poems. “I love drawing and singing now. I look forward to every EOL session!” she added.

Her greatest aspiration is to focus on her studies, and she expressed heartfelt gratitude to JRS-Caritas Bangladesh for their guidance and support.
