“I’m excited to learn and create something beautiful in embroidery art,” says Sapida, expressing her hope for a brighter future.
Sapida lives in the IDP camp in Kabul learning embroidery skills to engage with Skilling Circles production unit. ‘I was a student at the school aspiring to be a teacher, but my dreams got shattered with the onset of August 2021.’ With a regret of lacking skills to generate income, Sapida engages herself learning embroidery skills at the Skilling Circles Training Centre of JRS. ‘After four months, I weave beads artistically, embroider patterns on products, etc. using the designer’s patterns creating a fusion of culture and modernity’, says Sapida with gratitude.
Traditional artisans are seldom appreciated with fair remuneration, but my first product sold through Skilling Circles provided me joy of making my skills reach across the world. Sapida, like many others, continue to face challenges within their family for their engagement at Skilling Circles with limited income but they continue with dedication and passion.
‘Financial independence is a far-fetched dream; we take gradual steps towards it. But my coming together with others at Skilling Circles centre of JRS gives me inner independence, and I feel valued’ Sapida says with a gratuitous heart.
